Even in food grade quality
Potassium Derivatives
In addition to technical applications, high-quality potassium derivatives are used in the food, feed and pharmaceutical industries. Looking back on more than 100 years of experience, we produce KOH (potassium hydroxide) starting from the raw material potassium chloride (KCl) in our electrolysis plant and derivatives such as potassium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate in downstream plants.
Evonik's potassium derivatives are produced in it's Lülsdorf plant south of Cologne. We're backintegrated with the production of KOH. Potassium hydroxide is used as a raw material of the production of potassium derivatives like potassium carbonate lye, potassium carbonate in various grades and potassium bicarbonate, also known as potassium hydrogen carbonate.
Potassium derivatives are used in a broad field of applications. Potassium carbonate is used in the food industry as an enhancer for taste.
